Disaster Relief for Houston
Spring Hills and associated ministries are prepared to release several “Opportunities of Engagement” for you and those we serve here in Central Ohio. We believe God calls each member of His body to greater levels of responsibility and care when alerted to those in need.
Opportunity #1 is PRAYING:
- Pray for protection for those remaining in the path of this devastating storm.
- Pray for healing, health and recovery of the injured and weary.
- Pray for safety, wisdom and unity among the relief teams responding.
- Pray for salvation of the lost, empowerment of His body and glory given to Jesus as Sovereign King.
Opportunity #2 is GIVING
The following items are being collected here at Spring Hills Granville Campus in marked “tubs” located in the church & GCA School lobbies throughout the week AND in the rear of our Worship Center during weekend services. Final date of collection is Wednesday, September 6th upon which they will be personally delivered to the affected area by the Traveling SHBC Relief Team. ONLY the FOLLOWING ITEMS will be collected and all MUST be unused and new.
- Baby formula, wipes, diapers, blankets & bottles
- Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, deodorant, shampoo, mouthwash, personal packet tissues and feminine hygiene products
- New warmups (sweatsuits and onesies) – infants, children, women and men – all sizes (XL and XXL sizes needed)
- New underwear
- New socks – all sizes

Opportunity #3 is GOING
An SHBC Relief Team of 12 Volunteers is being assembled. Expected dates of Departure and Return are Sept. 7th – 12th. Minimum age of participation is 14, however they must be accompanied by parent. Those age 16 and 17 may attend without parent, under chaperone supervision. We will be assisting local homeowners affected by the Hurricane: tearing out damaged drywall, removing flooring, tarping roofs and clearing debris. Meals, sleeping accommodations and tools will be provided. A fee of $50.00 will be charged to off-set transportation expenses. To engage – please contact Pastor Gary at 740-587-1200.
A letter from Pastor Tom concerning the flooding in Texas:

I am hoping that you and your family enjoyed the wonderful weather of this past weekend. It was a beautiful weekend to be outside embracing all God's wonderful creation.
No doubt though, you are aware of the devastating floods happening right now in Texas. The magnitude of this disaster is catastophic and more rain is predicted in the next couple of days. I cannot even imagine how relief teams will coordinate to provide the rescues and relief that is needed.
As Christians, our natural response is "How can I be of help?" First and foremost, I know that you are joining me in prayer for the leadership overseeing the disaster relief plans; praying for the people who are affected by the rising water; and praying for those who will be making rescues, restoring power and assisting in other ways.
