Vertical 196 is a program of Licking County Jail Ministries with a primary existence to bring Jesus to those who are struggling with homelessness, addiction and former incarceration. It consists of a daytime drop in center and evening programming. We operate Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 2:00pm. Our volunteers are asked to serve in either of two daily shifts: 9:30am - 12:00pm or 11:30am - 2:30pm. The earlier shift is primarily responsible for preparing the lunch meal, and the latter is primarily responsible for washing dishes as well as end-of-day clean up.

Our daily services include:

  • Showers (Monday, Wednesday & Friday)
  • Clothing/coats/shoes (Monday & Wednesday)
  • Laundry facilities (Tuesday & Thursday)
  • Bibles
  • Bible study opportunities
  • Church connections
  • Hygiene supplies
  • Haircuts
  • Employment training/job placement
  • Benefits sign-ups
  • Life skills
  • Reading space
  • Rides to rehab
  • Charging station for cellphones
  • Wifi
  • The sharing of Hope we have through Jesus Christ

Volunteers must be 18 years old and older

Vertical 196 also offers evening programming:

  • 2nd & 4th Tuesday 6-7:30, Choose to Be – Support for Addiction Families
  • Friday 3-4, Hope in Recovery
